Pole Princess!! (or Polpri/Polepri for short) is an anime series about girls achieving their dreams through the art of pole dancing. It features original songs and motion-captured 3D pole dance performances by real-life professionals of Studio Transform. Kaori, the owner of the studio and lead supervisor of all choreography, has stated that the project aims to destigmatise pole dancing from its reputation as a purely sexual performance. It is animated by Tatsunoko Production and produced by Avex Pictures. It was first revealed on the 25th of November, 2022.It is currently comprised of a short ONA anime series available on YouTube (English subbed) → Link here
and a theatrical release movie available on Blu-ray (not currently officially available in English, although an international release was previously announced). Fanmade subtitled versions are available online, however.The ONA story follows Hinano Hoshikita, a reserved 17-year-old girl who one day learns her grandmother’s planetarium, which she has loved since she was a child, will be closing due to lack of visitors. When she and her best friend Lilia Saijo are considering ideas for how to save it one night, they come across Azumi Shinou gracefully pole dancing under the stars, and this inspires them to learn how to do the same.The movie continues the story with the four members of Azumi’s pole dance studio entering the Pole Dance Japan Cup under the group name Galaxy Princess, going up against legendary group Aile d’Ange - the four-time winner of the competition.
